For beginners with NO prior knowledge of the Yiddish alphabet
In Level 1a, students will practice reading and writing, and will learn some basic conversational skills, idiomatic expressions, and simple songs.

1b
For beginners with prior knowledge of the Yiddish alphabet
This level is suitable for students and professionals of the Hebrew language who wish to begin learning Yiddish, as well as for anyone who has had some prior exposure to the Yiddish language but has not studied it systematically. In Level 1b, students will review the alphabet and specifically address the differences in spelling and pronunciation between Yiddish and Hebrew. They will also learn basic conversational skills, idiomatic expressions, and simple songs.

For Yiddish students who have completed a beginner-level course
In Level 2, students will practice reading and discussing simple literary texts, and will learn new conversational skills, as well as new grammar and vocabulary topics.

Professor of Yiddish language and culture at the Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (Inalco) in Paris. He has a particular interest in Yiddish poetry from all periods, from Renaissance chivalric romances to avant-garde poetry, which he teaches and translates into French.

Yiddish teacher, playwright, and actress based in London. She teaches Yiddish language and theater at the University of Cambridge, the Workers’ Circle, the Maison de la culture yiddish, and Yiddish Summer Weimar. She is the co-founder and co-director of The London Shpilers.
